More Than Design: Why Design Grafico Evolved After Nearly 30 Years

After nearly 30 years in business, one thing has become obvious to us.

Companies no longer just need design. They need clarity, consistency. And above all, a creative partner they can trust.

It is this reflection that guided the evolution of Design Grafico.

In recent months, we have launched a new visual identity, a new website, and a new positioning. But fundamentally, this change is not about becoming someone else.

It’s about fully embracing what we have already become.

Why Now?

When Tony founded Design Grafico nearly 30 years ago, the goal was simple: help businesses communicate better through design.

Over the years, projects have become more ambitious. Challenges more complex. Client relationships more lasting.

We have worked with startups, national brands, manufacturers, retailers, and food companies present across Canada.

And gradually, we realized something.

Clients weren’t just coming to us for a logo, packaging, or a website.

They were coming to us to reflect, to clarify a direction, to validate an idea, to make an important decision, to find a solution.

In short, they trusted us for much more than design.

“We have probably been too discreet about who we really are. We started small, but we have always thought big for our clients. Now is the time to think big for ourselves.”

— Tony Moriello, founder of Design Grafico

At a certain point, we understood that it was time to align our image with this reality.

What We Learned Working with Hundreds of Brands

After hundreds of projects, one observation constantly recurs.

Companies generally don’t lack ideas; they often lack clarity: clarity on their positioning; clarity on their message; clarity on what truly distinguishes them.

When a company lacks clarity, decisions become more difficult. Projects slow down. Changes in direction multiply.

And even the best design in the world ends up losing its effectiveness.

“Most brands don’t need more design. They need clarity.”

This conviction became the starting point for our repositioning.

Because before creating something beautiful, you have to understand what truly deserves to be communicated.

Meet Your Creative Partner

It is from this reflection that our new tagline was born:

Meet Your Creative Partner.

It is not a slogan.

It is simply the best way we have found to describe how we work.

Since the beginning, we have pushed reflection, clarified directions, and challenged decisions when necessary.

We build with our clients, not just for them.

Because we are convinced that the best results are born from true partnerships.

Some of our client relationships have lasted for more than ten years.

This is no accident.

“We don’t just execute. We reflect before designing, we clarify before creating, and we get involved for as long as necessary.”

It is this approach that allows us today to act as a true extension of the teams we support.

The Three Principles That Guide Our Approach

Over time, our way of working has naturally been built around three simple principles.

Create Clarity

Before designing anything, we seek to understand.

  • Understand the business.
  • Understand the market.
  • Understand the challenges.

Because a good direction is often worth more than a dozen good ideas.

Build True Partnerships

We are not trying to be just another supplier.

We want to be the team our clients call when they need to move forward, make a decision, or evolve their brand.

The best projects are rarely those where we simply receive a brief.

They are the ones where we build together.

Maintain Momentum

We believe that branding is often far too complicated.

Our role is to provide structure without unnecessarily slowing things down.

Move projects forward, make decisions, and create momentum.

Because a good idea only creates value when it is put into action.

An Identity That Better Reflects Who We Are

This evolution also resulted in a new visual identity.

We left behind certain codes that had been with us for several years to adopt a more mature, more confident, and more timeless image.

An identity that gives more space to the work, relationships, and brands we support.

Red now becomes our main accent color. A nod to Tony’s Italian roots, but also the reflection of a multicultural, curious, and deeply human team.

The goal was not to become someone else.

The goal was simply to better reflect who we are today.

What Will Never Change

Even if our image evolves, the essence remains exactly the same.

We remain passionate about brands.

We remain convinced that human relationships make all the difference.

And we remain deeply proud of what we create, but also of how we do it.

As we write in our manifesto :

“We are partners, not just suppliers. A true extension of your team. We know your brand, we deliver what is needed when it is needed, we challenge you when necessary, and, above all, we don’t complicate things unnecessarily.”

It is this philosophy that has guided our work for nearly 30 years.

Conclusion

This repositioning is not a new beginning.

It is simply a more honest way to tell our story.

After nearly 30 years, we continue to do what we have always loved to do: help businesses move forward, communicate better, and build stronger brands.

The difference is that today we finally have the words to explain it.

We are Design Grafico. Your Creative Partner.
